The Arcus Center for Social Justice Leadership (ACSJL) is looking for an exceptional digital organizer with strong communications and public relations skills. The person who fills this role will join a dynamic and collaborative team. The role will serve as the primary lead on developing the ACSJL’s social media and e-communications strategy and its implementation. This role will be expected to engage with community, campus, national, and global partners. The ideal candidate will possess background and expertise in social justice.

The Communications Manager will oversee digital and external-facing written communications for the Arcus Center for ACSJL. This position will serve as the primary lead in developing and implementing the ACSJL’s social media and broader communications strategy which should include content creation that builds upon the ACSJL’s ongoing programming and educates the ACSJL’s network and communities on pressing social justice issues in line with the Center’s mission and goals. The Communications Manager is responsible for maintaining the ACSJL’s online presence including: website, e-newsletter, social media and podcast platforms. The Communications Manager will also be expected to raise awareness broadly about the ACSJL and its work, while fostering online community and engagement on behalf of the ACSJL and in service of its mission.

Ongoing responsibilities include:

-Creating promotional materials such as: flyers, social media graphics, website content, and mass email messages, etc

-Documenting and communicating the impact of ACSJL’s events and programs

-Update and organize website content

-Manage social media accounts and build community

-Develop social media content in line with the ACSJL’s strategic goals and priorities

-Lead the development and implementation of ACSJL’s social media strategy

-Analyze social media/online engagement metrics and strategize ways to increase engagement and traction

-Work collaboratively with Executive Director and ACSJL Team to develop new and strengthen existing programs and events

-Create, Write, and maintain a social media calendar

-Co-strategize social media campaigns that broaden awareness of key social justice issues and increase visibility for ACSJL’s work, and encourage engagement with the center’s programming

-Prepare and send regular E-newsletter

-Provide direction and guidance to student workers to support in the implementation of overall social media and communications strategy.

-Provide support as necessary to ongoing work of the ACSJL

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience. An extensive portfolio demonstrating the ability to fulfill the responsibilities of the role may be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree. The position requires extensive experience with and knowledge of social justice issues and activism. Community organizing, policy advocacy, and/or movement-building experience is highly desired.
