Nomi’s Direct Network ensures that providers are paid quickly and in full so that employers can offer a rich health benefit that employees can use. Many employees use Bronson for their healthcare needs. Bronson providers are included in the Nomi network. Therefore, Nomi Health presents an opportunity for employees to get health care
- With the same providers, and
- Reduce the deductible to $0, and
- Reduce copays to $0, and
- Pay the same in premiums, and
- Save the College thousands of dollars per year.
- Don’t use Bronson for your healthcare needs? That’s ok. Check out the Frequently Asked Questions section below to see the large number of providers in the Nomi network. You could still use a provider not in the Nomi network, which would mean that the current copays, coinsurance, and deductibles would still apply.

Are Bronson-affiliated facilities included in Nomi, such Bronson Orthopedic and Joint Specialists or Bronson Oncology and Hematology?
Both locations of Bronson Orthopedic and Joint Specialists are in Nomi’s network, as is Bronson Oncology and Hematology.
Certain lab/radiology locations are not included in Nomi, including Bronson Advanced Radiology/Lab. You could still go to Bronson Advanced Radiology/Lab, but there may be a copay, coinsurance, and/or deductible, depending on the procedure and which plan (Black or Orange) you are on. However, if you wanted a no-cost solution, you could talk to your doctor about getting your procedure done at Bronson hospital.

Does ASR still cover my provider, who is not part of the Nomi network?
Yes. You can still see a non-Nomi provider and ASR still covers the same amount as if Nomi had never been added. You may have a deductible, copay, and/or coinsurance, just as you would have in January 2025 as an example. Note that Borgess Hospital is considered a Tier 2 provider.

Nomi seems like a great option for employees and the College, but now I am wondering what will happen if I do not use all of my flexible spending dollars by December 31, 2025.
You are able to automatically carryover up to $660 from 2025 into 2026. There is nothing that you need to do to cause the carryover to occur. You can check your flexible spending balance at the BFG Group Wealth Care Portal or by logging in to the Acrisure/Burnham & Flower app. The next open enrollment for flexible spending will occur in November 2025 with enrollments effective on January 1, 2026.
How does BHS and Nomi work together?
Copays for mental health services reduce to zero ($0) for BHS providers.
What is lost and what is gained by adding Nomi to K’s health plan?
NOTHING is lost by adding Nomi. Currently, Kalamazoo College uses two networks of healthcare providers – HAP/Physician’s Care and Aetna. Those networks remain part of our healthcare plan.
Nomi is another national network that is added to our current networks. If employees happened to use a Nomi provider, their copays for seeing the doctor would be zero. If employees happened to see a provider that is not part of Nomi, but is part of HAP/Physician’s Care or Aetna, they would have the same copays/coinsurance/deductibles.
How is it possible that employees and the College saves money without reducing access to care? This seems too good to be true.
Fair question. A critical eye is important when evaluating an opportunity. In this case, Nomi guarantees 100% payment to providers within two business days. Providers are accustomed to receiving prompt payment from insurance companies, but not necessarily from patients for their share. Consequently, providers are often waiting for long periods of time for payment from patients, and in some cases, never receive payment from patients. Nomi providers are willing to charge less for service in exchange for guaranteed and timely payments.
