Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to know about summer hours?
- Regular hours will end at 2:00pm on summer hours Fridays.
- All summer hour participants have 3 hours of paid time off each week during Summer Hours.
Do I need to “make up” the three hours during the week?
Nope! There is no expectation to “make up” or “front load” the hours.
Will I get paid for participating in summer hours? If so, how should hourly-paid employees record the summer hour time?
Yes, you will get paid the same as you would if you had not left early. Hourly-paid staff should record 3 break hours on their timesheet.
I work less than 40 hours per week. How will summer hours affect me?
Your supervisor will work with you to adjust your schedule so that you are paid for prorated time off each week during summer hours.
Example: Someone works 25 hours per week. How much paid time off so they get during Summer Hours?
Here’s the math: 40 hrs(full-time) / 3 hrs = 0.075 * 25 (hrs/week) = 1.875 hours, which we round up to 2 hours. Someone who uses a time sheet would take 2 hours off each Summer Hours week and report 2 break hours.
