This is the summary annual report for the Kalamazoo College Defined Contribution Retirement Plan, EIN 38-1358014, Plan number 001 for the period January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022. The annual report has been filed with the Employee Benefits Security Administration, as required under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA).
Benefits under the plan are provided by insurance contracts and a trust fund. Plan expenses were $8,150,408. These expenses included $71,758 in administrative expenses, $8,061,300 in benefit paid to participants and beneficiaries and to insurance carriers for the provision of benefits, and $17,350 in certain deemed distributions. This change includes unrealized appreciation or depreciation in the value of plan assets; that is, the difference between the value of the plan’s assets at the end of the year and the value of the assets at the beginning of the year or the cost of assets acquired during the year. The plan had total income of -$9,386,666, including employer contributions of $1,782,568, other contributions/other income of $1,094,179, and earning from investments of -$13,744,549..
The plan has a contract with TIAA-CREF, which allocates funds toward group deferred annuities. Total premiums of $0 were paid for the plan year ended December 31, 2020.
