Climate Action Plan Committee

Committee’s Charge

The Climate Action Plan Committee is the standing committee responsible for maintaining the college’s plan in association with the President’s Climate Leadership Commitment signed in 2010. Establishing goals, monitoring progress, annual reporting and providing guidance on projects and initiatives to support the plan are the primary activities of the committee. Membership is between five to seven members including representation from Administration, Faculty, Support Staff, Facilities Management and the Student Body. The AVP for Facilities Management serves as chair and membership is by appointment.

Selection and Appointment

The AVP for Facilities Management and the Center for Environmental Stewardship are permanent assignments. Terms for all appointments are three years, with the exception of the student post(s), which are one year.

• The Faculty representative is appointed by the FEC in consultation with the Provost
• The Administrative, Facilities Management and Staff Representatives are appointed by the chair in consultation with each constituency group
• The Student representative is the Sustainability Intern, who also serves as note-taker for the committee

Three (3) years

Time Commitment

Minimum of 2 hours per month, members expected to participate in working groups.

Additional Information

The working groups oversee the three general areas of the plan, Energy, Academics, and Community Behavior, and do some work independently for the committee to integrate into the overall plan. The committee typically meets biweekly during the academic year, and members are expected to contribute to the working groups for their specific area of expertise.
