Free cash for parents and their baby

We’re excited to share that the City of Kalamazoo launched Kalamazoo Rx Kids on February 12, 2025, a groundbreaking cash prescription program for expectant parents and infants in our community. Enrollment offers financial support to help families thrive.

What is Kalamazoo Rx Kids?

Kalamazoo Rx Kids provides no-strings-attached financial assistance to City of Kalamazoo residents who are pregnant or have infants born on or after February 1, 2025. There are no income requirements—families can use the funds however they choose to best support their child. Eligible participants will receive:

  • $1,500 during mid-pregnancy
  • $500 per month for the first year of the baby’s life

Who Can Enroll?

The program is open to City of Kalamazoo residents who are:

  • Pregnant at the time of enrollment
  • Parents of infants born on or after February 1, 2025 (Enrollment remains open until the child is six months old)

Why It Matters

This initiative is part of a broader effort to improve maternal and infant health outcomes and bolster financial security for families. The program is fully funded for the first two years through generous contributions from the Kalamazoo Community Foundation (KZCF), the State of Michigan, and other local partners.
