Kalamazoo College is seeking a reliable, service‑oriented Campus Safety Officer to support a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for our community. This part‑time position plays an essential role in maintaining campus security through proactive patrol, responsive service, and strong community engagement.

Weekend Shifts: Saturdays & Sundays, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct high‑visibility foot and mobile patrols across campus.
- Monitor buildings, secure facilities, and respond promptly to radio/telephone calls.
- Enforce campus parking regulations and issue citations as needed.
- Perform preliminary investigations, assist victims, preserve evidence, and coordinate with local law enforcement within policy.
- Provide traffic direction, hazard reporting, and general assistance to students, employees, and visitors.
- Build positive relationships across campus while promoting safety awareness.
- Complete detailed written reports and maintain professional uniform and equipment.
- Attend required training and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; college coursework in criminal law or social sciences preferred.
- Experience in security, community service, or related fields beneficial.
- Strong situational judgment; ability to remain calm, tactful, and respectful in tense or emergency situations.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and move quickly across campus.
- Clear oral and written communication skills; ability to follow complex instructions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and related reporting tools.
- Valid state driver’s license meeting College policy requirements and the ability to pass a background investigation.
