Medicare Open Enrollment Period
Medicare’s open enrollment period is from October 15, 2024 through December 7, 2024.
Upcoming Changes and Important Dates
As part of Emeriti’s administrative conversion to OneBridge, eligible retirees will:
- Receive updated debit cards for both prescription and medical claims.
- Have the ability to request reimbursements for qualified health expenses without having to first transfer funds to the money market mutual fund.
- Have access to a simpler, streamlined claims process.
- Enjoy more connectivity with a new smartphone app.
These changes will require Emeriti to interrupt the claims process while transitioning to their new administrative partner. Please note:
- Emeriti will cease processing claims on the current debit card for the program on October 31.
- There will be a period, from November 22 to December 27, during which claims submissions will not be processed. Claims received after November 22 will be forwarded to OneBridge for processing.
- There is no deadline for claims submissions (i.e., they do not have to be submitted by the end of the calendar year), but there will be a delay in issuing reimbursements for claims submitted after November 22.
Of course, a critical component of the Emeriti program is the group insurance program for retired individuals who are participating in Medicare. October represents the start of the Open Enrollment period for Medicare’s 2025 plans. This represents an opportunity for covered individuals to make changes to their elected coverages. In addition, Emeriti is reopening access to the plan for individuals who did not elect Emeriti group insurance coverage in years they were previously eligible. As in past years, we will conduct weekly webinars with Aetna on Wednesdays at 1:30 PM ET during the Open Enrollment period, which runs through late November.
