In this role, you will
- Serve as a primary point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and external visitors.
- Provide administrative support by managing departmental records, correspondence, office supplies, and daily office operations.
- Coordinate departmental events, including lectures, cultural programs, faculty meetings, student gatherings, and visiting scholar events.
- Arrange travel, lodging, and honoraria for guest speakers and lecturers.
- Process invoices, reimbursements, purchasing requests, and other departmental business transactions.
- Maintain departmental websites, student information resources, and academic records.
- Assist with faculty searches by coordinating application materials, candidate communications, and campus visits.
- Supervise student employees by scheduling, training, and supporting their work.
- Create and edit documents, presentations, flyers, and communications using Microsoft Office and other technology tools.
- Collaborate with faculty, students, and campus partners to ensure efficient and effective department operations.

- Have familiarity with generative AI tools or an interest in learning new technologies.
Additional Information
- Anticipated Start Date: As soon as mutually agreeable
- Reports to: A department chair of the Anthropology/Sociology, Economics/Business, or History department
- Position Type: Hourly, Regular, Benefits-Eligible
- Schedule: In-person, on-campus, 40 hours per week, September through June, and 20 hours per week, July and August
- Compensation: Approximately $19.00 per hour
- This is an in-person position located on the Kalamazoo College campus.
- Work is performed primarily in an office setting with extensive computer use.
