About Special Open Enrollment
The Nomi Direct Network will be added to our health plan on July 1, 2025. Since this change is sufficiently significant, we offer a special open enrollment period, May 29 – June 3, with changes effective on July 1, 2025. During this time, employees may:
- Switch between the Black and Orange health plans
- Add/remove dependents
- Opt out of health coverage
Important:
- All members of our health plan will receive a new health insurance card to be used on and after July 1, 2025. Please visit the Personal Information page if your mailing address needs to be updated.
- If you decline coverage during this special enrollment, you may only re-enroll during the regular fall open enrollment period or if you experience a qualifying life event.
- This is a passive enrollment—what does that mean?
- If you would like to make changes, please proceed to the Special Enrollment Form.
- If you do not want to make changes, no additional action is required. You may close out of this page.
- Changes to dental and vision may be made during our regular open enrollment period in the fall, or if you experience a qualifying life event.

Frequently Asked Questions – Special Open Enrollment
Why do I need to ensure that my mailing address is current?
All employees who participate in our health, dental, and/or vision plans will receive a new health insurance card to be used on and after July 1, 2025. Update your mailing address
What does “passive open enrollment” mean?
It means that you only need to take action if you want to make changes. For instance, if you are in the Orange (premium) plan and you want to change to the Black (standard) plan, you will need to complete the Special Open Enrollment form between May 29 and June 3. If you do not want to make any changes to your health plan, you can simply ignore the open enrollment messages.
How do I confirm which health plan I have – Black (standard) or Orange (premium?)
- Review your earnings statement in HornetHQ, or
- Email HR.Benefits@kzoo.edu for confirmation.
How can I find out if my provider is part of the Nomi network?
Nomi is a nationwide network with approximately 20,000 providers in network with more being added regularly. Use sample group ID MNCL1 to search the current Nomi Health Directory.
My provider is not part of the Nomi network. Can I still see the person?
Yes! You can still see a non-Nomi provider and ASR still covers the same amount as if Nomi had never been added. You may have a deductible, copay, and/or coinsurance, just as you would have in January 2025 as an example. Note that Borgess Hospital is considered a Tier 2 provider.
I have more questions about Nomi. How can I learn more?
Can I make changes to my dental and/or vision coverage during the special open enrollment period?
You can make changes to your dental and/or vision coverage during our regular enrollment period in November. Only changes to the health plan are available during this special open enrollment period.
Who can I contact with questions?
Please contact Human Resources or email benefits@kzoo.edu.
